Mauritius Pays Tribute to Nelson Mandela
Members of the South African community and Mauritian citizens came together yesterday, Sunday 15th December, to pay tribute to former South African President Nelson Mandela who passed away on December 5th at the age of 95.

In a moving service held at the Indira Ghandi Cultural Centre in Phoenix, Acting South African High Commissioner Ivan Prinsloo delivered a speech on behalf of Dr. Nokwe. The South African National Anthem was sung by soprono Santie Meiring and prayers were also offered from representatives of 5 different religions.
Meanwhile, the Maurtian parliament held a special session on Friday afternoon to mark Nelson Mandela’s passing. The South African Chamber of Commerce was represented by Board Member, Mr. Tim Redman.
